Oct 05, 2009

Another woman has been chosen to lead RBTT Bank Ltd (Trinidad and Tobago).

In a newspaper advertisement yesterday, the local banking body announced that Arvinder Bharath will assume the position as president and country head of RBTT.

She replaces replace Catherine Kumar, former head of the Bankers' Association of Trinidad and Tobago, who stepped down from the post early last month.

According to RBTT, Bharath, who takes over from today, will "provide strategic direction and overall management for RBTT's personal and business banking streams in Trinidad and Tobago, with particular focus on enhancing customer relationships and achieving sustainable growth".

Bharath's background includes ten years in the United Kingdom, where she held several senior management positions at Barclays Bank plc, with responsibilities for business strategy in the United Kingdom and in international markets, including Africa, the United Arab Emirates and India.

"She has led multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse teams across continents in Sales, Product and Proposition Development, Risk Management, Compliance and Control, Governance and Change Management - including mergers/acquisitions and integration/separation of key businesses," RBTT stated.

Prior to this, Bharath led the Caribbean operations of Computers and Controls Ltd and served in senior managerial positions within the Ansa McAL Group.
