New acting CEO at N&M

The Neal & Massy conglomerate has a new acting chief executive officer.

E Gervase Warner, 44, has been appointed to the position currently held by president and CEO Bernard Dulal-Whiteway, who is out of the country on extended personal leave.

Neal & Massy chairman Arthur Lok Jack said yesterday that the board of directors unanimously accepted Dulal-Whiteway's recommendation to appoint Warner to "lead the group at this time".

Warner, who joined Neal & Massy in 2004, is also the chairman of the recently merged Energy and Industrial Gases Business Unit, and is chairman of Neal & Massy Energy, Industrial Gases Ltd and Neal & Massy Wood Group.

Lok Jack said in an e-mailed statement from Neal & Massy yesterday, that "Gervase has an intimate knowledge of the group and his expertise was instrumental in the growth of the Energy and Industrial Gases Business Unit. The board has the fullest confidence in his ability to lead the group and steer the company toward achieving our vision of continuous growth and increased shareholder value".

Contacted yesterday, Warner said: "Neal & Massy has had a legacy of strong and resilient leaders and it is an honour to be a part of the history and the future of this pioneering group of companies, which has been in operation for over 85 years.
